Dear Cricket: A Play School Love Story

Two James'!

Dear Cricket,

Yesterday your Daddy called me with a play school update. You go to school on Mondays and Tuesdays. Daddy knows to call me as soon as you both get home so I can hear how your day went. You've been going for a couple months, but just the last few weeks you've started to really enjoy it. It's been an answer to our prayers to see you thriving and learning in this new environment. We are SO proud of you!

Yesterday when Daddy called he was laughing. He said he took you into your classroom to gather your things from your locker. There were four or five children playing with toys quietly in the corner. Your teacher, Miss K, was sitting at a table with a little boy. You said "bye" to Miss K then went over to the boy and gave him a gentle kiss on the forehead. Miss K turned to your Daddy and said, "Cricket likes Sammy."

My heart melted to hear how you expressed such sweet affection to a new friend. You later told me Sammy ran away from you. I chuckled to myself. What can I say? Love can be fickle sometimes.

Stay true to yourself, my dear. Love makes the world go around.

With a melted heart and all my love,
Mommy
