Dear Mackinac Island,
We are so grateful for another lovely trip to your sweet island. Mr. Schalk and I had a great time last year (here, too) enjoying our summer just the two of us. That trip was full of excitement and anticipation as they were the new days of our little baby growing in my belly. We enjoyed your fudge, your scenery (um...hello 7 mile bike ride...you were more fun than I thought you'd be) and each other.
This year was familiar and new all wrapped up into one. We introduced our now 6 month baby to your wonder. She saw your horses, your lake and your fort for the first time. Eyes wide and smile on, despite a restless night, we all took in your beauty with a fresh sense of adventure.
Thank you for only raining for a short while. Thank you for tempting me with your delicious German Chocolate fudge from Joann's. Thank you for the beautiful stay, the morning walks and memories to last a lifetime!
